Then, we began our slow winding way back home up the coast, meeting friends. We had dinner with Kathee and Kelvin, stopped overnight in Fullerton so I could play vball with ML's HS friend Jim. We relaxed over an amazing bbq at his house, tasting Joyce's mom's homemade wild deer sausages.
Next, we stopped in Santa Barabara for a superb lunch on a cafe's patio. After stretching our legs on the pier, we drove another 45 minutes to Solvang, a cute Dutch town. We spent a day eating and drinking there.
Driving up 101, we stopped in San Luis Obispo to visit another HS friend of ML. Joan and her mom prepared sandwiches, which we ate on their deck with a superb view.
4 more hours of driving, with a McD stop made special with our portable
USC table and a surprisingly clean bathroom at an Ace hardware, and we were
home...sans Kyle.
