2019 Summer

Time is passing so quickly. My updates to this website used to be weekly when Kyle was born, to monthly, quarterly, and now maybe semi-annually.

Alan is working at Central Pacific Bank. I went on a few business trips: one to Florida (which included a surprise VIP trip to Disneyland); another to Portland (where I found a retro arcade/bar - what a great idea); and Vegas (where I attended the Michael Jackson show, and happened to catch up with Bennet and Ray).

Working out of the new Entrepreneur's Sandbox, I organized 2 "Tech Talks" with my friends Kevin Yu (Tesla, PayPal) and Caroline Lee (LinkedIn). It's great when work and personal can coincide.

Living in Hawaii is amazing. Besides the obvious weather benefits, our Kaka'ako neighborhood keeps delivering new bars, activities (axe-throwing! sand volleyball at the next door Ala Moana Park) and restaurants, like Merriman. Or we go a little further to Waikiki and act like tourists without paying the overnight hotel rate. Or we drive a bit further to the N. Shore for a change of scenery.

ML attended Emma's wedding in Scotland. Alan hung out with Ed in Shanghai and his dad in Taiwan. Kyle went to Alaska for his summer Punahou trip.

Our restaurant Indochine 1938 is making good progress recently. We're hopefuly for a 2020 opening.

ML and I are splitting time between CA and HI. We set up our condo in Cupertino and were able to move all of our old boxes (mostly photo albums) into it, and even salvage some of our old furniture.
