Great to see Ted at super cool bar / restaurant that's only a block away from where we used to live on Yuyuan Lu
Just before I started my new job at CPB, a consulting offer came in with Stripe, taking me back to Shanghai. It's surprisingly difficult to get there from Honolulu - you would think we're half way there already. But I always love stopping in Narita airport.
I got a fantastic deal at the Pei Mansion hotel. I feared the worst, but it was as advertised - quaint and super-central, just behind the Portman in Jing'an. I enjoyed my weekend just walking around the French Concession, our old neighborhood, seeing all the things that are new (e.g., a huge Peets), and the things that are the same (old people exercising in the park in the mornings, but now to hip hop music).
I brought the stripe team around to meet a lot of my old PP colleagues. They are now all the titans of the payment and cross-border industry.
