2018-08 Munich

We rendezvoused with our precious son from the Disney cruise in Munich. Our Marriott was not in the city center, so Alan took the metro down, walked around the historic / shopping area, and then got stuck in the metro terminus on the way back home. Train problem #2!

We took the train out to a small town called Isny to meet ML's high school exchange student friend Dirk. As you can guess, we had train problem #3 - who knew trains in Germany could split and half the cars could go one direction, and the other half of the cars go another. Well, we were in the wrong half of the train and ended up in a super-cute town called Fischer, but it wasn't where we wanted to go.

After a drink calmed us down, we were able to reroute to the right train and found our way to our hotel. It was great catching up with / meeting Dirk and his family. And it was fun to get out of the big city and experience the countryside. The train ride was absolutely gorgeous, though quite hot.

The big discovery of the trip was the pleasure of e-bikes!

I thought it was cool I had the whole subway to myself - until I realized I had missed the last stop and ended up in the terminus. Had to press the SOS button to get out and onto the next train back to the station platform!
