ML and I flew into Maui for JonMichael and Jen's wedding and checked into the awesome Andaz hotel. They had organized an amazing set of pre-wedding activities:
- Saturday 2/27: Welcome Reception at Jen's parents' condo - Alan brought a bottle of Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky to spice things up.
- Sunday 2/28: Ocean Riders Snorkeling Trip - "Get ready to snorkel! We have chartered a private snorkeling trip for the entire day with 14 of our closest family and friends. When we went last year, it was some of the best snorkeling that we ever did as we also saw whales and dolphins along the way (yes, saw it too!). Our trusty captain will be taking us along the shores of Lanai and Molokai." It was a gorgeous day, smooth waters, with tons of views of whales, tortoises, dolphins, and of course tropical fish!
- Sunday 2/28: Happy hour at Monkeypod Kitchen. Before the happy hour, we play cards with J&J and their friends at the pool bar of the Andaz, graced by a gorgeous sunset.
- Monday 2/29: Rehearsal Ceremony at noon for Alan. Alan finds out he's the ring bearer! ML and I spent the rest of the afternoon at the Wailea Mall, having lunch at Tommy Bahama's and then finding ML's dress and Alan's sportscoat as well. Then, we stumbled upon the perfect wedding gift for J&J!
- Monday 2/29 Family Rehearsal Dinner at Migrant Maui in the Marriott. We're considered family! Yet another beautiful sunset. Ho hum.
- Tuesday 3/1 The Big Day! JonMichael invites the groomsmen to a yummy local breakfast at Nalu's. Then, we get a straight-edge shave at 808Fades (808 = Hawaii's area code). My first ever! Then, it's back to the Andaz to get dressed. Alan's mom arrives, and we go have a delicious sushi lunch. Then the ladies retreated to the spa to prep. Mom got her first manicure in many years.
