Captain Wang invited us to the US Navy Ball at the W Sentosa. Great party, but more importantly, it reminds us of the significance of being an American citizen - we are grateful that our Armed Forces keeps us safe. "Us" being my family and friends in one sense, but also in the greater meaning of making the world a safer place. The Admiral reminded us that 70% of the world is water, 80% of the world's population lives near a shore, and 90% of the world trade is plied over the ocean trade routes, kept open and safe by the US Navy.
The POW table with only one place setting was symbolic of the lone prisoner who wasn't with us this evening: one empty chair, one inverted glass.
