September 2015 - Phuket
We lucked out and escaped the horrible haze in Singapore (caused by forest
burnings / clearings in Sumatra) by going to the JW Marriott in Phuket.
We doubly lucked out because we managed not to be seduced into buying the
timeshare points. We had a good time, despite the heavy downpour,
particularly enjoying the breakfast buffet. Though the resort was a
bit dated, it was still beautiful and lush. It made a great backdrop
for our professional family pictures.
Kyle and I squeezed in a bike ride around the nearby lake,
before the rains began. I also showed Kyle around the gym so he
wouldn't be intimidated by it in the future, like I had been growing up.
The meals were delicious, Kyle ordering burgers twice. The lotus pond
was gorgeous in the morning, greeting us when we arrived and when we left
(the 2 times it wasn't pouring rain).
