We kicked off the new year with a lunch date at the stylish Indigo Hotel on the Bund. We flew to HK for Paul & Verna's wedding reception. The night before, we had dinner with Gus & Mindy at a private dining room serving up authentic Creole food, and then partied at LKF at the Kee Club, access thanks to Sylvia. In the Ritz Kowloon, Paul's wedding reception served up cake first, awesome food, a fun video, and of course a beautiful bride in her several wedding gowns. It was great seeing Alan's old volleyball friends Paul, Frank, Andrew and Hank.
Alan flew to Singapore to start his new role at PayPal as the Head of Global Cross Border Trade (any transaction where the buyer and seller are in different countries). ML and Kyle joined him over the weekend, staying in their service apartment Park Royal. During the lazy rainy weekend, we walked around the mall, had an amazing dinner at The Four Seasons, brunch at the yacht club with Renee's family, stroll along Sentosa beach where Kyle loved the trampoline and obstacle course, and then dinner at Paul's humongous house. We really warmed up to Singapore over this weekend.
Back in Shanghai, ML kicked off Chinese New Year (year of the snake, if you couldn't guess from her little gift) with her girlfriends at the Andaz hotel. The hotel showed their appreciation by offering her free éclairs for the rest of her life at their pastry shop. At his Shanghai American School, Kyle did a great job as part of the 5th grade drama class' Schoolhouse Rock performance.
