Alan returns to PayPal China, promoted to COO. Geni was like an 11 month sabbatical. Everything's pretty much the same as when he left - 100 emails per day, tons of meetings, same folks, same product and processes. But the business environment is 180 degrees different since business is now doing well.
Easter ushered in Spring to Shanghai. We tried out the vaunted Westin Easter buffet - the food was good but the performances were better. With the good weather, the visitors started to come. Jesse came down from BJ. Alan's mom, aunt, cousin Cheryl and niece Emme all came. Kyle played with Emme for a week, and as Cheryl noted, it's pretty amazing that they were still great friends at the end of the trip.
Alan flew to Singapore for work twice since he started, unfortunately even leaving his mom the 2nd time, but not without a game of mahjongg the night before. He flew back in time to celebrate ML's birthday with Joy and Jamie at Roosevelt's Steakhouse - said to be the best steak in Shanghai and we believe it. The next night we went to see Celine Dion perform for the first time in China. Pretty great show.
