Penang 2005

During China's "Golden Week" holiday, we escaped the mad rush of millions of Chinese on vacation all at the same time and flew to Penang, Malaysia.  We stayed at the Shangri-La Golden Sands resort on Batu Feringgi beach.  The pool was great but the room, service, and food were all mediocre.  We went with Bill & Toni, but made new friends as well: Tjun, Sylvia and Lauren, and Eddie, Michelle, and Audrey.  We ate great food, shopped at the reasonably-priced malls, visited the E&O hotel (which looks like Raffles, Singapore because of the same designer), and played at the pool.
