My not-so-secret passion in life is video games. In junior high, I got my first computer, a copycat IBM from Taiwan, and started teaching myself Basic, and later Pascal. I also played some great games back then, ultimately getting to Ultima, playing side by side with my best friend (before the days of internet and multi-player). In college, I remember being very addicted to Spaceward Ho!
For many years, I stopped, mostly due to work and family obligations. While in China, though, after my promotion at PayPal, I rewarded myself with a (then) top of the line gaming computer, Dell Aurora. My gaming career started again then, with major addictions to: Sins of a Solar Empire, Galactic Civilizations, Civ, Total War: Shogun, Portal, DragonAge, Dawn of War, Command & Conquer Tiberium, to name only the titles that I played for endless hours, usually finishing to completion, and then trying again at a more difficult level.
Then, the iPad came out, and I got super addicted to Clash of Clans for a year, with Kyle. I was quite into FireAge as well, but I forced myself to stop. The latest iPad addiction was Fallout Shelter, which I've included my favorite screenshots below showing off my awesome Vault 888, where I managed to get a 100% with the vault full. I built a secret room at the bottom of the vault, a nod to the Sci Fi series Silo.
But my all time favorite games are Dawn of War II and Xcom. Below is a screenshot of my most powerful roster of soldiers in Xcom: Enemy Within on Impossible difficulty, with 13 soldiers of the Colonel rank.
